Eczema is considered to be the same or synonymous with Dermatitis. Dermatitis can be defined as an inflammation of the dermis or skin. There are many causes or etiologies that lead to skin inflammation. Dry skin is likely to be the leading cause of Acute Onset Dermatitis.
Eczema can be generalized (all over the body) or localized to a specific area like your hands. As a result of dry skin, we normally itch the area in response. Thus this is a common cause of how the inflammation is initiated and which can results in Eczema if the affected area of the skin is continually prone to being dry.
